Garri Dadyan, b. 1952 in Baku, Azerbaijan,
was named a National Master Artist of the Soviet Union in 1985 for his unparalleled mastery of repousse metal work. In 1993 he became a member of the UNESCO International Federation of Artists in recognition of his superior artistry.
A master metalsmith, Mr. Dadyan employs the techniques of chasing and repousse filigree and granulation, wax casting, engraving and niello with equal virtuosity. Working in gold, silver, and copper, with precious stones and enamel, Garri brings old world mastery to the new world that few can emulate.
Garri's works have been exhibited throughout Russia and the former Soviet Union in the Russian Artists' Union National Galleries and Exhibits, and are held by a majority of foreign embassies in Moscow. He has fulfilled numerous private commissions for high-level government officials in the Kremlin, high-ranking officers of the Soviet and Russian military and KGB, and for wealthy individuals.
Garri Dadyan has been resident in the United States since 1997, where he and his family emigrated due to the ethnic persecution of Armenians in Azerbaijan and Russia.
